Does one really need reasons for painting? I think not, the act of painting is in itself enough. The discipline of solving the puzzle posed by proportions and perspectives is accompanied by the joy of being expressive; of pushing and pulling paint around until the painting almost takes on a life of it's own. Painting incorporates all our senses; it's good for body, mind and soul, as Constable said "painting is but another word for feeling".
